Caltrain is reopening tracks in both directions between Redwood City and Palo Alto following a fatal collision with a pedestrian Monday afternoon, and is working to restore normal service, according to a spokeswoman.
One person was killed when a southbound Caltrain struck a pedestrian north of Encinal Avenue in Menlo Park at 4:22 p.m., Caltrain spokeswoman Jayme Ackemann said.
The collision stopped trains in both directions and has caused delays of up to an hour.
The collision was the agency's 13th fatality this year, Ackemann said.
Watchdogs are questioning an exclusive agreement between the City of Oakland and a non-profit group, tapped to lead a multi-million dollar project to redevelop the area around the Coliseum BART station.
