DANVILLE, Calif. —
A water pipe broke in downtown Danville Thursday night and caused streets to flood, prompting closures in the area, police said.
Danville police were dispatched to the intersection of Hartz Avenue and Diablo Road at around 6 p.m. after receving a report of a water main break.
Water was seen flowing from a broken pipe near the intersection, forcing police to close the intersection immediately.
East Bay Municipal Utility District was on scene and attempted to divert water from the main.
Police have closed Hartz Avenue from Railroad Avenue to Diablo Road, and Diablo from Front Street to Hartz Avenue. Other side streets were affected in that area.
