SAN FRANCISCO —

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for interior areas of the San Francisco Bay area for Sunday morning.

The warning is in effect from 2 to 8 a.m. for interior valleys and mountains, according to the weather service.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 20s and lower 30s across the Bay Area tonight, in what is expected to be the coldest night of the current cold snap.

Residents are warned to protect sensitive vegetation.

Conditions could also be hazardous to the homeless, weather service officials warned.
