The family of Sierra LaMar, the teenager missing from her Morgan Hill home for more than a week, is getting some help from two people who know all too well what it's like to have a family member vanish.
Michael Le is part of the team. Last year a search volunteer found the body of his sister Michelle, a nursing student from Hayward.
"It feels like my sister is missing again, it feels like I frantically want to find Sierra," said Le.
Mark Klaas is at the center of the operations. He lost his daughter Polly nearly two decades ago and has been meeting with Sierra's family.
"You have to look at Elizabeth Smart who came back after many months, you have to look at Shawn Hornbeck who came back after many years, you have to look back at Jaycee Duggard who came back after almost two decades," said Klaas of the KlaasKids Foundation. "Until something could be proven otherwise, hope will remain alive."
Searchers were hanging signs and setting up a plan of action to bring 15 year old LaMar home Monday.
The KlaasKids Foundation had its team of search specialists flown in from all around the country to expand the search in Morgan Hill for the missing teen.
Starting at 8 a.m., volunteers 18 years and older can come to Burnett Elementary School to help.
"If there is anything suspicious whatsoever, the teams will be taught what to do with that and then we'll notify law enforcement and they can come in and do an investigation on that," said Brad Dennis, director of operations for the KlaasKids Foundation.
The KlaasKids Foundation is working with local law enforcement to pinpoint areas that have already been searched as well as new areas. The sheriff's department welcomes the help.
"Each one of the teams has a GPS tracking devices on them and we will have a record of what they searched," explained Dennis.
Searches were planned to be conducted through Sunday.
Watchdogs are questioning an exclusive agreement between the City of Oakland and a non-profit group, tapped to lead a multi-million dollar project to redevelop the area around the Coliseum BART station.
