ALAMEDA Co., Calif. —

A portion of a human skull was found along the Alameda Creek Trail in Union City Wednesday afternoon, an Alameda County sheriff's sergeant said.

The skull was found at about 4 p.m. at the creek behind Nevada Street, Sgt. J.D. Nelson said.

Nelson said the bone has been in the creek for at least a year.

The Alameda County coroner's bureau crime lab and sheriff's detectives are investigating the creek area, Nelson said. Many bones have been found, but are all likely animal bones, he said.
