OAKLAND, Calif. —
A person was struck and killed in East Oakland by an Amtrak train en route to Sacramento Tuesday evening, officials said.
The train struck the pedestrian at 6:48 p.m. near the intersection of 105th and Edes avenues, Oakland police Officer J. Moore said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and police are continuing to investigate tonight, Moore said.
Amtrak said train 544 was heading to Sacramento from San Jose and had 160 passengers on board.
None of the passengers were injured in the collision and they were transferred to a different train and proceeded to Sacramento after being delayed nearly two hours, according to Amtrak officials.
The victim has not yet been identified.
