Train No. 714, on the San Joaquin line, left Oakland at 10:05 a.m. and struck the biker about 5 miles east of Antioch around 11:30 a.m., Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham said.

The train was due to arrive in Bakersfield at 4:11 p.m., but as of 1:45 p.m. was being held at the site of the collision, Graham said.

There were 92 passengers aboard the train at the time. No passengers or crew members were injured, she said.
