Two people killed in a crash in Richmond on Wednesday evening when their car swerved across Richmond Parkway and hit an oncoming truck have been identified as a husband and wife from San Rafael.
Deputy Contra Costa County Coroner Steve Casas said the victims were Martin Gershik, 72, and Marlene Gershik, 68.
Richmond police Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said the couple was driving north on the parkway at about 7:30 p.m. when their Toyota Camry sedan hit a curb and swerved hard across the parkway, careening over the center median and striking a southbound pickup truck.
The two were trapped inside the car and pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Abetkov said the police investigation is continuing today. The truck driver, who suffered minor injuries, is cooperating in the probe, she said.
Abetkov said there is no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
Autopsy results may be released on Friday, Casas said.
