CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif. —

As rain continued to pound the Bay Area Saturday, the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office was helping residents in unincorporated parts of the county receive sandbags to mitigate wet-weather damage.

Sheriff's officials announced five locations where residents with their own shovels and means of transportation can pick up free sand and sandbags.

The locations include the West County Detention Facility at 555 Giant Highway in Richmond; Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Station 4 at 700 Hawthorne Drive in Walnut Creek; Ambrose Recreation Center at 3105 Willow Pass Road in Bay Point; on Waterbird Way across from the county gas pumps in Pacheco; and the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds at 1201 W. 10th St. in Antioch.

At the fairgrounds residents were told to enter on West 10th Street.
