A downed power line inside San Mateo County's Huddart Park sparked a vegetation fire and caused a small power outage in the area Friday afternoon, according to PG&E.
The fire, reported around 2 p.m. Friday, was sparked after a tree came down on a power line inside the park, PG&E spokesman Jason King said.
King said firefighters would need to contain the fire before PG&E crews could repair the downed line, which is located in rough terrain that makes access difficult. About 30 customers have been affected by the outage.
San Mateo County firefighters are on the scene and unavailable to provide additional information, according to a county fire dispatcher.
Watchdogs are questioning an exclusive agreement between the City of Oakland and a non-profit group, tapped to lead a multi-million dollar project to redevelop the area around the Coliseum BART station.
