SAN CARLOS, Calif. —

A small plane went down into a levee while landing at the San Carlos Airport this morning, a San Mateo County sheriff's spokeswoman said.

The aircraft, a single-engine Columbia LC41, rolled off the end of the runway and landed with its nose gear in the levee around 10:15 a.m., according to Ian Gregor, a spokesman with the FAA. The airport is located at 620 Airport Drive.

The two occupants of the plane got out of the downed craft without injury, said sheriff's Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt.

An Federal Aviation Administration investigator was en route to the airport, according to Ian Gregor, a spokesman with the FAA.

Neither the FAA nor National Transportation Safety Board immediately released the identities of people involved in the crash, Gregor adde.
