Teen girl dies in Redwood City bicycle accident

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. —

A 14-year-old girl was struck and killed by a pick-up truck Monday while riding her bike to school in Redwood City, according to authorities.

Police said the accident happened at about 8:30 a.m. As the bicyclist and the pick-up made a right turn from Jefferson Avenue to Alameda De Las Pulgas.

Paramedics took the girl to Stanford Hospital where she died of her injuries. KTVU learned she was a student Woodside High School.

The accident is under investigation, but the driver was said to be cooperating with police.
