A train stuck in the Transbay Tube Wednesday evening took nearly an hour to clear causing major delays for BART riders in the evening commute.

Starting shortly after 6 p.m., the malfunctioning train halted service to San Francisco and caused major delays for trains headed to the East Bay, a BART dispatcher said.

The train was cleared at about 7 p.m., but system-wide delays of about 15 minutes persisted into the evening.
