CONCORD, Calif. —

An early morning two-alarm fire destroyed an apartment insider a Concord complex early Tuesday and damaged others before it was brought under control, authorities said.

Fire Capt. Robert Marshall said the blaze was reported at 6:55 a.m. in a second-story apartment at an eight-unit building at 3268 Tioga Road that is part of a larger complex.

Crews arrived to find the apartment engulfed in flames, he said. The blaze was controlled at about 7:50 a.m.

No injuries were reported, but the flames "pretty much destroyed" the apartment where the fire started, Marshall said.

There was fire and smoke damage to two apartments below and adjacent to that unit, he said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and firefighters do not yet have a damage estimate.
