A two-alarm fire that started in San Francisco's Lower Haight neighborhood late Saturday night caused an estimated $400,000 in damage to two buildings, a fire department spokeswoman said Monday.

The blaze was reported at about 11:35 p.m. Saturday at 625 Haight St.

Firefighters responded and extinguished the fire by 12:15 a.m. Sunday.

The blaze caused an estimated $250,000 in damage to the building at 625 Haight St. and about $100,000 to its contents, San Francisco fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.

The flames also spread to 631 Haight St., causing an estimated $50,000 in damage, Talmadge said.

Six adults were displaced by the fire, the cause of which remains under investigation, according to Talmadge.
