WALNUT CREEK, Calif. —

Two lanes have been shut down on a Walnut Creek main thoroughfare Monday evening after a water main burst, police, city and water officials said.

Two lanes of westbound Ygnacio Valley Road at Wiget Lane were shut down around 4 p.m. for a main that broke around 2 p.m., said Don Murphy with the city's engineering division.

Water service was just being shut off around 5 p.m. for the main that serves only commercial customers, no residents, Contra Costa Water District spokeswoman Jennifer Allen said.

The lane closures were expected to continue through the evening as crews worked to repair the main.

Police advised motorists of delays in the area.
