Oakland police are searching for a man who allegedly molested a 7-year-old girl at an apartment in Oakland’s Chinatown.
According to police, the attack happened after a man dressed as a plumber entered an apartment on the 100 block of 10th Street, after explaining to the adult female resident he was there to check pipes for leaks.
After gaining entry into the unit, the suspect entered a room and was alone in a room with the victim, a 7-year-old girl, and he began to molest her.
When the victim tried to escape, he grabbed her, and prevented her from leaving the room.
When she screamed, the family member came into the room and confronted the suspect.
The suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
Police described the suspect as a Caucasian man in his early to mid-50s, 6 feet tall, 160 pounds. He is described as skinny with light brown hair and white beard. He was wearing a gray hat, blue, white and green horizontal striped shirt and blue jeans.
The victim and the witness described the suspect as having paint in his hair and multiple-colored paint splatters on his pants.
Police said the suspect was seen earlier that morning around the building.
