Memorial Day Events In The Bay Area

BAY AREA —

San Francisco

10:30 a.m. Memorial Day parade to kick off San Francisco's Memorial Day program. Followed by a formal program at the national cemetery. Mayor Ed Lee will make a brief address. Ends at about noon with a 21-gun salute. Parade begins at Sheridan Avenue and Montgomery Street, continues to San Francisco National Cemetery, 1 Lincoln Blvd., San Francisco

10:30 p.m. Memorial Day submarine "lost boat ceremony." Honors sailors and submarines lost at sea. Includes the tolling of 65 bells representing the 65 submarines and crew lost at sea. Aboard the USS Pampanito, Pier 45, Fisherman's Wharf, Taylor Street and the Embarcadero, San Francisco

Oakland

10 a.m. The 90th Memorial Day commemoration at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, 5000 Piedmont Ave., Oakland 11 a.m. Memorial Day service, Evergreen Cemetery, 6450 Camden St., Oakland

Vallejo

9 a.m. Memorial Day ceremony, Mare Island Naval Cemetery, Naval Cemetery, Blake Avenue, Mare Island, Vallejo

Walnut Creek

10 a.m. Memorial Day observance, Includes a keynote address by Cmdr. Renee Richardson, USN, with the Department of Defense Prisoner of War/missing personnel office in Washington, D.C. the Gazebo, Civic Park, North Broadway and Civic Drive, Walnut Creek.

Santa Cruz

10 a.m. Memorial Day remembrance ceremony, Grand Army of the Republic plot, Evergreen Cemetery, Evergreen Street near Harvey West Park, Santa Cruz.

Pleasanton

10:30 a.m. Memorial Day concert by the Pleasanton Community Concert band, followed by an 11 a.m. Memorial Day observance. Pleasanton Senior Center, 5353 Sunol Blvd., Pleasanton

Brentwood

11 a.m. Memorial Day service, Alameda Veterans Memorial Park, Island and Doolittle Drives Bridge, across from the Chuck Corica Golf Course, Alameda

1p.m. Memorial Day service aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hornet, USS Hornet, Pier 3, Alameda Point, Alameda

Santa Clara 3 p.m. Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority Bus and Light rail vehicles will stop for one minute for the national moment of reflection for Memorial Day
