ORINDA, Calif. —

Two Bay Area women who campaigned for President Obama said on Wednesday they were thrilled to have the opportunity to attend his inauguration ceremony for a second term.

Retired high school teacher Joan Brown of Orinda picked up her ticket to the inauguration on Wednesday after winning the lottery from Congressman George Miller's office.

"It's my first time. I'm so excited," said Brown.

The 70-year-old had her nails done Wednesday afternoon in preparation for her trip.

"We worked so hard and then to have him be re-elected...I can't stop grinning," she beamed.

Brown is prepared for the winter chill of Washington D.C. and said she has the proper clothes for the festivities.

But Brown's focus is on what President Obama can bring to the future.

"I feel like there's a chance my grandchildren will grow up in a country similar to the one I grew up in," said Brown.

Pamela Mays McDonald of Oakland is scrambling to find affordable airfare so she can fly out on Saturday.

"There are direct flights. I'm looking at Virgin," explained Mays McDonald

She attended the President's inauguration for his first term.

"This time, it's less of a euphoric experience." she reflected."We're older and wiser. We've been bruised and battered a little bit."

But Mays McDonald said a second term is time to get the work done that the President started during his first term.

"I see these as very sober events, " says Mays McDonald . "This is history in the making and this is a great opportunity for a second term with a president that we love to try and get things right."

Both women said they were excited to see the President take the oath again and that they were looking to do volunteer work to carry help carry out the President's vision.
