Oakland Teen Goes Missing After Meeting On-Line Gamer

OAKLAND, Calif —

Robert Thompson's family says someone has to know what happened to the Oakland High School Junior.

They just need that someone to come forward.

Thompson's family says that on Friday March 20th, Thompson finished playing video games on-line and then decided to skip church and go meet someone he'd met playing XBOX 360-Live.

He told them he was going to meet that person at the West Maccarthur BART station.

That was the last time anyone saw him.

On Monday evening, Thompson's family and members of their church, Victory Outreach, were putting up posters in West Oakland with information about the missing teen.

Thompson's grandmother, Gwendolyn Strain, was visibly distraught and said on-line gaming put teens in danger.

"He was talking to someone in another city, and you don't know who they are, but then they say meet me, and these kids don't know if they are sex offenders are not," said Strain.

Strain described her grandson as a responsible young man who attends church three times a week and enjoys skateboarding and playing music.

He is described as about 6-feet tall, 200 pounds with a medium build.

His family says Robert Thompson went to meet someone with a screen name of either "Clarence Skunk" or "Bezerkin."

Police ask that anyone with information call them.
