CONTRA COSTA Co., Calif. —
A person was injured in one of two separate fires in Contra Costa County Thursday evening, fire officials said.
The first fire was reported at around 5:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of Franklin Canyon Road in Martinez, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Marshal Lewis Broschard said.
The two-alarm fire was under control within about 30 minutes and no one was injured.
Broschard said there was a possibility that there were occupants inside but a search of the home revealed that no one was inside.
The blaze cause significant damage to the home and the cause is not yet known, he said.
The second fire was reported at 6:14 p.m. in the 2200 block of Fairbourne Drive in Pittsburg.
Firefighters responded to a one-alarm attic fire. They searched the home and found one occupant, who was evacuated from the home at around 6:30 p.m.
The occupant was taken to a hospital.
Broschard said the occupant's condition was not immediately known.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
