Police Take Oakland Teenager In Custody After Threat

OAKLAND, Calif. —

A 13-year-old Oakland student is in police custody after authorities say he threatened the lives of school staff and was found to have weapons at his home.

Oakland school spokesman Troy Flint says the Oakland Community Day School student made the threats Thursday to a case manager.

Authorities say they later found seven loaded guns at the boy's home, including two rifles and a shotgun.

The boy has been taken into custody on suspicion of making terrorist threats and threats to a public employee with intent to cause deadly or bodily harm.

In a separate incident, a 14-year-old who officials say was expelled from Oakland's Madison Middle School was taken into custody Thursday after he allegedly pointed an imitation gun at two school children on campus.
