SF Man Attacked With A Hammer During Home Invasion

SAN FRANCISCO —

A man who was hit in the head several times with a hammer during a home invasion robbery in San Francisco's Jordan Park neighborhood early Monday morning may have been attacked because of a dispute over a woman, a police spokesman said.

The robbery was reported at about 1 a.m. in the 3400 block of Geary Boulevard.

Two suspects broke down the front door of the home and began to take items. One of the suspects encountered the 45-year-old victim and demanded money from him, according to police.

The victim began to struggle with the intruders and was hit in the head and knees several times with a hammer, police said. He was hospitalized but is expected to survive.

Although the suspects, a white man in his 30s and a black man in his late 40s, took three computers and a phone before fleeing, police spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield said the initial motive for going into the home may have been a woman.

Dangerfield said one of the suspects, the white man, and the victim apparently had dated the same woman.

The suspects had not been arrested as of this afternoon.

Anyone with information about the attack or the whereabouts of the suspects was encouraged to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
