REDWOOD CITY, Calif. —
Cables that were initially thought to be downed power lines blockedĀ all lanes of southbound Highway 101 in Redwood City near Marsh Road Thursday morning for about 30 minutes.
The power lines came down at around 10:30 a.m. and one of the lines may have hit a car's windshield on the shoulder. A growing back-up in the southbound direction could cause delays of up to an hour. CHP suggests drivers use 280 or El Camino Real as alternate routes.
CHP and PG&E personnel determined that the lines were actually fiber-optic cables and cleared the lines from the roadway shortly after 11 a.m. There was no reports of injuries.
