BAY AREA —
To accommodate a higher number of travelers over the Thanksgiving weekend, BART is operating longer trains today and Sunday.
The trains will help passengers get to and from San Francisco and Oakland international airports the day before and the Sunday after the Thanksgiving holiday, according to BART.
To help speed up the process for travelers going to Oakland International Airport, a MyTransitPlus employee wearing a bright yellow vest is selling single tickets to people waiting to board the AirBART shuttle during certain hours, officials said.
Through Sunday, as well as Dec. 22 through Jan. 2, BART will make 475 additional parking spaces available for Airport/Long Term parking reservations.
Reserved spaces are available at most East Bay BART parking lots for $5 per day. Long-term parking is available at the Colma and Millbrae stations for $6 a day.
On Thanksgiving, BART will run on a Sunday schedule, with service beginning at about 8 a.m.
To help shoppers get to stores on Black Friday, BART will make its trains as long as possible, BART officials said. Full-length trains will run from 6 a.m. until the close of service Friday.
