OAKLAND, Calif. —
An Oakland family was out of a home Sunday after a truck went through an apartment.
The accident occurred at a low income apartment complex on International and Havenscourt boulevards.
Firefighters said the truck was speeding when it hit a light pole and flew over a tree before plowing into the building and bursting into flames at around 8:30 a.m.
One neighbor said they saw it all happen.
The car caught on fire and they were trying to stop but they couldn't, the neighbor said.
Firefighters put out the fire in minutes.
No one inside the apartment was injured.
The driver of the truck took escaped on foot and was later arrested by Oakland Police.
