Vallejo Police Make Cold Case Arrest For 1983 Slaying

VALLEJO —

Police arrested a man in the Sacramento area on Wednesday in connection with a murder that occurred in 1983.

Authorities said the California Department of Justice crime lab advised them that a DNA analysis has implicated 38-year-old Tommy Davis in the murder of 24-year-old Tonette Hendricks.

Hendricks was found dead in an apartment on Georgia Street in Vallejo on Jan. 24, 1983.

Vallejo police said Davis did live in Vallejo as a teenager, possibly in the Westwood Street area of east Vallejo.

Police aren't yet releasing specifics about the case because they say they need to conduct a variety of interviews. Police said detectives must now re-contact as many people as possible who were involved in the initial investigation.

Investigators are looking for family members of the victim, as well as witnesses and individuals who might have information about the murder. Friends and associates of Davis are also asked to contact police immediately.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Matt Meredith at (707) 648-4509 or (800) 488-9383.
