McDonald's tests Gilroy Garlic Fries

- McDonald's French fries are getting some world famous South Bay flavor.

McDonald's is testing made to order Gilroy Garlic Fries in the Bay Area.

According to McDonald's they are using ingredients including chopped Gilroy garlic, olive oil, parsley, parmesan cheese and salt. Employees will toss the French fries in bowls with the mix.

The garlic for the fries comes from the family-owned Christopher Ranch which is located in Gilroy - the "Garlic Capital of the World." The family run business is the largest garlic production operation in the United States.

“The response from our customers has been very positive,” said Nick Vergis, Co-op President, San Francisco Bay Area. “We enjoy giving our customers options and bringing this local flavor to our world famous French fries.”

Right now the fries are being tested at four McDonald's locations in the South Bay. If feedback is positive, McDonalds says they will serve the fries at about 250 restaurants in the Bay Area.
