One girl's Christmas wish: Feed the hungry

DETROIT - One metro Detroit girl is proving this Christmas that you don’t need a lot to make a big difference.

Mekena Brown and her family brought happiness Friday to deserving people that needed it the most, making and delivering brown bag meals with hamburgers and other assorted goodies inside.

The 13-year-old hatched the plan and told how she explained it to her grandma.

“I said “Grandma, you know what we should do, we should feed the homeless,’” Brown said. “Instead of me getting presents for Christmas. She said ‘You know you aren’t getting any presents for Christmas,’ and I said I don’t care.

“There are people out there struggling and don’t have anything for Christmas.”

From her west side neighborhood, her and her grandma made their special deliveries Christmas day.
