One lane of EB 580 now open after fatal crash
(BCN) - The right-hand lane of eastbound Interstate Highway 580 in the area of the Altamont Pass is now open as officers investigate a fatal crash, the California Highway Patrol said this morning.
The crash happened around 7 a.m. just east of North Flynn Road on eastbound 580 in unincorporated Alameda County, according to the CHP.
One person died in the collision, the CHP said.
A Sig-alert has been issued and the right-hand lane is closed to accommodate emergency vehicles and the investigation of the crash.
Traffic on eastbound 580 is backed up between the area just east of North Flynn Road to just east of Greenville Road.
