1 hospitalized after Caltrain collision at Redwood City station

A person who was struck by a southbound Caltrain at the Redwood City station this afternoon is responsive and was taken to the hospital, according to Caltrain officials. 

The officials initially said that the person had died. 

The person was struck at 4:18 p.m. at the station at 1 James Ave. 

Around 500 people were on the train that collided with the person. Nobody on board was injured. 

Caltrain officials said the person who was hit was "trespassing" but didn't offer any other details about why the person was on the tracks.
