Photo shows wreckage of wrong-way DUI crash on Hwy 17

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (KTVU) - CHP Santa Cruz posted a photo of the wreckage following a wrong-way crash on Highway 17.
According to CHP Santa Cruz, a 47-year-old Redwood City man was driving northbound in the southbound lanes on the freeway portion of Highway 17 through Scotts Valley. The man, in a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, hit a 2014 Mazda MZ6 around 11:44 p.m. Sunday.
Although the driver's car was totaled, there were no life threatening injuries in the crash.
According to CHP Santa Cruz, the driver was suspected of drug impairment and was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail early Monday morning.
