"He was wanted, armed and dangerous," said San Francisco Police Captain Raj Vaswani, "He's a prison gang member from a pretty violent prison gang."
Police said the suspect, who's named has not yet been released, jumped into a Cadillac when patrol officers tried to detain him.
According to police, the suspect rammed into a house and then struck a parole agent as he continued to flee. The parole agent was unharmed.
The pursuit continued along Third Street in the South of Market Neighborhood and then onto 5th Street where he struck two cars near the intersection of Howard Street.
"I thought the car was going kind of fast," said witness Mike Bordalampe. "Then started swerving in and out of traffic trying not to hit things then rounded the corner like a bat out of hell."
The pursuit ended at 5th and Market when the suspect's vehicle became wedged between two cars in rush hour traffic at about 5:45 p.m.
"The next thing I know somebody smashed into my car," said Camille Hayes who's car was smashed by the fleeing suspect, "then police swarmed over the top of the car that was now wedged beside me."
San Francisco police dragged the parolee from the car. He was taken away on a stretcher and placed in an ambulance. Two motorists suffered minor threatening injuries.
