San Carlos resident arrested for sexually assaulting juvenile he met on dating app

Jeffrey Ramsden, 57, of San Carlos arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a juvenile victim he met on an online dating app.

A San Carlos man was arrested by San Mateo County sheriff's office on suspcion of sexually assaulting a juvenile victim he met on an online dating application.

Jeffrey Ramsden, 57, faces one count of felony oral copulation with a juvenile, and one count of felony sodomy by use of force, according to a press release sent out by the San Mateo County sheriff's office Wednesday. 

According to the release, Ramsden commited the crime at a private residence in San Carlos. The sexual assaults occurred twice -- between December 2018 to February 2019.

The San Mateo County sheriff's office did not announce which dating app(s) Ramsden used to target his victims. 

Ramsden was booked into the Maguire correctional facility in Redwood City on April 17, 2019. According to online records, Ramsden is no longer in custody. It was not immediately clear why it took the San Mateo County sheriff's office over a month to announce the arrest.

The San Mateo County sheriff's office believes there are potentially more victims who have been contacted by Ramsden via online dating applications.
