SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) - San Francisco is exploring the idea of extending parking meters at night.
Transit officials brought up the idea Tuesday, as a way of raising revenue.
Right now, the agency only plans to study the impacts of extending paid metered parking, beyond 6 p.m., and it would only apply to the busier parts of the city.
San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency faces a $13 million deficit next year.
Also on Tuesday, city officials agreed to significantly lower towing fees, which is another revenue loss for the agency.
