Workers at San Francisco's Anchor Brewing Company voted Wednesday in favor of unionizing.

The employees will join the International Longshore & Warehouse Union. Workers said the effort to organize started a year abo because many were fed up with their pay and benefits.

Employees at the nearby Anchor Public Taps Brewery are set to vote on whether or not to join the union on Friday.

The brewery was sold to Japanese beer maker Sapporo in 2017. Anchor Steam has been at its Potrero Hill location since 1977, but has roots in the neighborhood going back to the 1930s. They were founded in San Francisco in 1896.
