Sea lion pup born in Vallejo, Six Flags running contest to name her
VALLEJO, Calif. - A female California sea lion pup was born earlier this week and the folks at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo are running a contest to name her.
The pup, born on June 16, is the first offspring of 5-year-old Lulu, who was rescued by The Marine Mammal Center after she stranded and determined that she wouldn't be able to to survive on her own, according to spokeswoman Nancy Chan.
Since her birth, the pup has been nursing, sleeping and when awake, vocalizing to mom, much like all newborn sea lions with their mothers, Chan said.
Six Flags is running the name-the-pup contest on its Facebook page here. The deadline is Friday.
