Several sideshows reported overnight in Oakland

Oakland police say there were several sideshows overnight in the city.

Police expected the activity after seeing notices on social media about a large gathering in Oakland. Officers say about 200 cars gathered at Foothill and MacArthur Boulevard. They also stopped sideshows at several other locations along International Boulevard.

So far, police have not reported any injuries or arrests.

Oakland Police had extra officers on-duty and worked with the CHP to keep an  eye on freeways for groups of cars and motorcycles headed for well-know sideshow locations, including the port.

People living in North Oakland say sideshow activity is also common in their neighborhood.

Oakland resident John Ellinich says, "Sometimes it's one car, sometimes it's two, a lot of times it's in the middle of the night. We'll be sleeping and hear a commotion outside".
