SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) - A San Francisco police officer's badge was stolen, along with a San Francisco Sheriff deputy's glock 17 9mm semiautomatic handgun, two loaded magazines, a bulletproof vest, radio, and a duty belt, according to San Francisco police.
The items were reported stolen from a locked safe at a home on the 300 block of Tocoloma in Visitacion Valley.
It appeared the suspect may have gained access through an open window.
The report was filed at 7:35 a.m. Friday.
San Francisco Sheriff's Department issued a release Friday afternoon about the incident. In part it read:
The theft was properly reported by the deputy to the San Francisco Police Department, which is the agency of primary jurisdiction. The deputy made a verbal report to the Sheriff’s Department immediately thereafter, per our procedure. The investigation will be performed by the San Francisco Police Department.
This is a matter of serious concern to Sheriff Hennessy and the Sheriff’s Department. Any missing firearm is a danger to public safety and we are hopeful it will be recovered quickly and safely.
No further details were immediately available.
