ANTIOCH (KTVU) -- A woman was killed and a man was injured when another man opened fired early Monday morning inside a Contra Costa convenience store, authorities said.
The incident occurred shortly after 7 am at the Quik Stop Market store, located in the 2700 block of West Tregallas Road near Highway 4. Rescue workers were called to the scene and witnesses reported seeing several police cruisers at the market in the minutes after the incident. Yellow crime scene tape was posted at the front of the store.
Authorities said a 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident but his identity was not immediately released. The man, who lived in Antioch, was taken into custody in front of the Antioch Police Department at 300 L St. shortly after the shooting, police said.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a 27-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She died at the scene. Another victim, also 27, suffered a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately available.
Investigators said both victims lived in Antioch. It was not immediately clear what prompted the shooting or the relationship between the suspect and the victims.
