ShotSpotter alerts Oakland Police of deadly shooting

Oakland Police hope surveillance video from a convenience store might help them find whoever shot and killed a man early Thursday morning.

The city's ShotSpotter system and an anonymous 911 call notified officers about the shooting, sometime around 4 a.m.

The victim, a man believed to be in his thirties, was found in the middle of the road, at San Pablo Avenue and 35th Street, near a Chevron gas station.

Police are trying to identify the victim, but they currently do not have any witnesses.

Northbound San Pablo Avenue, and a section of 35th Street were closed Thursday morning, as officers investigated the scene.
