UFC RIO Brazil 142 Aldo vs. Mendes

This past UFC 142 was hosted in Rio, Brazil at the HSBC Arena on January 14, 2012. AN exciting indeed for the Brazilian nation as the sold out HSBC arena chanted for their local fvaorites. As they had hoped, nearly all Brazilian fighters infact steamrolled through their opponents.

However it was the exciting Featherweight match-up with the beloved Brazilian champ Jose Aldo that many fans anticipated to see as he fought Chad Mendes, an undefeated and well-known American wrestler. Jose Aldo did not anticipate his audience as he knocked out Mendes with a brtual knee in the first round. After which Aldo proceeded to run through the arena and join his screaming fans.

Arantes defeated Carvalho via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). This bout was aired on the FX broadcast following the Gonzaga vs. Oliveira fight.
