LAS VEGAS —
One of the San Francisco Giants' key players in the team's 2012 World Series win had a run-in with authorities at the Las Vegas airport on New Year's Day, police said.
San Francisco Giants closer Sergio Romo was arrested at McCarran International Airport and cited for a violation of airport rules, Las Vegas police Officer Marcus Martin said.
Romo was going through a security checkpoint at about 9 a.m. Tuesday when allegedly he became agitated with Transportation Security Administration agents, Martin said.
Martin said Romo was standing in an aggressive stance and had clenched fists, and didn't back down when police officers arrived.
"You can't be uncooperative with TSA officials or you will be taken into custody," Martin said.
Romo was cited and released. It is unclear what the reason was for the encounter, Martin said.
A San Francisco Giants spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment.
