Stanford on Thursday night. It marked the Buffaloes' first win over the Cardinal in 22 years.

Askia Booker scored 13 points, including eight straight late in the second half after the Cardinal had trimmed an 18-point deficit to eight.

Roberson, who also had 20 boards against Fresno State last month, nearly had his eighth double-double of the season by halftime as the Buffs took a 44-29 lead into the locker room.

Colorado (13-6, 3-4 Pac-12) hadn't beaten the Cardinal (11-8, 2-4) since Dec. 23, 1990, in Boulder, losing five straight in the series.

Stanford swept the Buffs last year, winning by 24 and 20 points, but Colorado coach Tad Boyle was hoping big men Josh Scott and Xavier Johnson would match up better with the Cardinal's size this time and that the Buffaloes would defend the perimeter better.

They did both.

Last year, guards Chasson Randle and Aaron Bright combined to average 31 points against the Buffs and sink a dozen 3s.

This time, they had 22 -- 15 by Randle -- and combined for five 3-pointers.

Stanford's leading rebounder and third-leading scorer, Josh Huestis, was plagued by foul trouble and was held to six points and six boards in 19 minutes.

Scott scored 12 points and Johnson had 11 that included a trio of rim-rattling, arena-rocking jams in the first half, the last one a putback dunk at the halftime buzzer.

The Buffs also found their touch from long range.

They had made just 13 3-pointers in the five games since their loss at Arizona when Sabatino Chen's 3-pointer at the buzzer was disallowed even though TV replays showed he got the shot off in time in a game the Buffs went on to lose in overtime.

They had three in the first half on this night, when they scored on their first nine possessions and didn't turn the ball over until Chen's charge with 3:26 left in the half.

Roberson stole the ball from Dwight Powell and fed Johnson for his fourth jam, this one giving the Buffs their biggest lead at 54-36.

Powell's two buckets sparked a 10-0 run that cut the Cardinal's deficit below double digits before Booker took over.
