Vikings Sign Former Bill Pat Williams

Posted: 7:42 am PST March 3, 2005

The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with free agent defensive tackle Pat Williams, who spent the first nine years of his NFL career with the Buffalo Bills.

Terms of the deal were not released, but the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported it to be worth $13 million over three years with a $6 million guaranteed bonus.

Williams, a premier run stopper, will be reunited with former Bills defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell, who runs the Vikings defense.

The 6-foot-3, 315-pound veteran had just 51 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks this past season. He recorded a career-best 108 tackles in 2002 and for his career has 470 stops with 13 sacks in 108 games.
