(Sports Network) - The Detroit Red Wings will try to begin a new winning streak this evening when they visit the sliding St. Louis Blues at Scottrade Center.

The Red Wings had tied a franchise record with nine straight victories, but finally fell in a close game in Chicago on Sunday evening. Patrick Kane had a goal and an assist as the Blackhawks stopped Detroit, 3-2, at the United Center.

Jiri Hudler had a goal and an assist while Chris Osgood made 24 saves for the Red Wings, who fell to 13-3-1 on the season.

Henrik Zetterberg had an assist in the contest and extended his season-opening points streak to 17 games. The Swiss star has 13 goals and 14 assists during his career run, and his 27 points are tops in the league.

Zetterberg has been excellent against the Blues in his career, posting 29 points (13 goals, 16 assists) in 24 career games versus St. Louis.

The Red Wings are 6-2-1 as the visiting team this season and are capping a two-game road trip tonight.

St. Louis, meanwhile, is also coming off a loss in Chicago, as the Blues were handed a 4-2 setback Friday night in the Windy City. Kane had a goal and an assist to lead the Blackhawks.

David Perron and Steve Wagner each recorded a goal and an assist for St. Louis, which has lost three straight and four of its last five contests overall.

Manny Legace finished the game with 27 saves and fell to 6-5-0 on the season. Legace has still yet to give up more than three goals in a game, but has dropped three of his last four starts.

The Blues, who are 4-3-0 as the host this season, are playing the first of two straight games on home ice tonight. St. Louis will also welcome Columbus on Friday night.

St. Louis has taken two straight and three of the last four meetings with the Red Wings, but Detroit has won eight of the last 12 matchups.

The Blues have not had much success recently in the Motor City, as they have been defeated in seven of the previous 10 trips to Joe Louis Arena.
