Red Wings Sign Lilja To Two-Year Extension

Detroit, MI -- (Sports Network) - The Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings and defenseman Andreas Lilja agreed to a two-year extension on Monday, hours before the start of free agency.Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed, though, TSN of Canada is reporting that deal is for slightly more than his previous $1 million salary. Lilja, who turns 33 on July 13, registered two goals and 12 points in 79 games last season, his third in the Motor City. Prior to joining the Red Wings in 2005, the Helsin, Sweden native spent four seasons with Los Angeles and Florida. Selected by Los Angeles in the second round (54th overall) in the 2000 draft, Lilja has recorded 12 goals and 59 points in 398 career games with the Kings, Panthers and Red Wings.
