Sharks Sign Pavelski, Roenick, Boucher

POSTED: 2:14 pm PDT June 25, 2008

(Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks signed forwards Joe Pavelski and Jeremy Roenick, along with goaltender Brian Boucher on Wednesday. Per team policy, terms of all deals were not disclosed.

Pavelski, a restricted free agent, was inked to a two-year deal. The 23-year- old posted career-highs with 19 goals, 21 assists and 40 points in 82 games a year ago. During the Sharks' run to the Western Conference semifinals, Pavelski tied for the team lead in goals with five and ranked second on the club in points with nine.

The Wisconsin product has netted 33 goals with 68 points in 128 games over the last two seasons.

Roenick, who agreed to return for a 20th NHL season shortly after San Jose was eliminated by the Dallas Stars in early May, returns on a one-year deal.

He scored 14 goals to go with 33 points over 69 regular-season games, adding two goals and five points in 12 postseason contests. During the Sharks' Pacific Division-winning campaign, Roenick became just the third American-born player to reach the 500-goal plateau, and led the league with 12 game-deciding tallies.

A native of Boston, the 38-year-old has amassed 509 goals and 1,203 points in 1,321 games with Chicago, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and San Jose.

Boucher, an unrestricted free agent, was signed to a one-year pact. The journeyman netminder appeared in five games, going 3-1-1 with a 1.76 goals- against average for San Jose after being signed as a free-agent from the Philadelphia organization in late February.

Over 225 career games, the 31-year-old former 1995 first-round draft pick of the Flyers is 80-97-34 with a 2.77 GAA with 14 shutouts in an eight-year tenure with six clubs.
