Sharks Bring Back Shelley

POSTED: 4:00 pm PDT June 30, 2008

(Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks toughened their lineup on Monday, re-signing forward Jody Shelley to a two-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Shelley came to San Jose from Columbus in a late-January deal, picking up a goal and seven points in 31 games after going scoreless in 31 contests with the Blue Jackets.

On the season, the 32-year-old posted 135 penalty minutes, a career low for the winger who built a reputation on punishing physical play.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder has racked up 12 goals, 36 points and 1,116 penalty minutes in only 411 career games with Columbus and San Jose.

Shelley was originally signed by Columbus as a free agent on February 1, 2001.
