1601 Fillmore Street
San Francisco, CA 94115
While the legacy of blues musician John Lee Hooker most infamously lives on through his music, one of the last things he left the world was his San Francisco blues club, the Boom Boom Room. Located on the corner of Fillmore Street and Geary Boulevard, the Boom Boom Room is one of the best clubs in town to catch original and talented blues performers, scheduled every night of the week. A full bar and intimate atmosphere provide the ideal location for any fan of the blues, and audiences are ensured an classic blues club experience.
Located in the Fillmore District, the Boom Boom Room was built in 1997 and named after one of Hooker's most popular hits, "Boom Boom." While San Francisco has a number of great music venues, there really wasn't a place that primarily scheduled blues performers. Since that time, it has become the premier blues destination in the city, and has been acclaimed by a number of club critics around town. A checkered floor, retro lighting fixtures, and a marble bar adorned with tea light candles gives the place a lounge feel. The stage and dance floor sit at one end of the bar, giving people a great view of the performers from large, cushioned booths and intimate table settings.
Both diehard fans of the blues and those that enjoy a blues club atmosphere will really dig the authentic feel and sound of the Boom Boom Room. For a list of upcoming performers at the club, check the schedule above or just drop in for a visit.
